I am thankful for things that don’t go according to plan. Specifically, I’m thankful when things don’t go according to my plans.
As much as I may be ‘wise’ about decisions, I’m – in the end – a human with fallible reasoning and destructive patterns. Anybody who disagrees with this is not being honest about the human condition. We all screw up or have bad priorities at certain points in our lives. We can also have blind spots.
So I’m also thankful for friends, mentors, and family who can point out my blind spots, even though I hate to hear it at times.
Eventually, the thing that ‘ain’t no problem’ is accepted as a problem. It takes time, but it comes. And the plans that are built around that blind spot fall apart. Like clockwork.
